It seems like such a simple concept. A bench. Well, you can use a few pieces of scrap lumber, a well placed log, or cinderblocks and an old plank for a bench in your yard or garden. You want to sit for a while and enjoy nature and be semi-comfortable. You don't need to be sofa-comfortable, but you do need to enjoy where you're sitting so you can focus on your garden. If you're after that "rustic" look, then making a bench out of scraps, logs and old stuff should do just fine. If you're looking for something a little more polished and eye-catching, then consider building your own garden bench. It only takes a few basic tools and a little time. The cost is minimal.
